Hi and welcome to the political teen. I am a teenager from Texas who has been fascinated with politics for a long time now. I consider myself left wing and i support the green party. I am open towards any discussion in the comments, if you disagree with me on something them please put it in the comments!
One thing that I don’t understand is why some people are against space travel. While there are short term consequences in the long run I think it is beneficial.
The enviorment
The economy
Firstly while there are short term consequences of sending a rocket to space for the environment there are some great things that could happen. For instance, imagine a world where we don’t mine anything from earth, one where we can get almost unlimited resources, one where manufacturing doesn’t impact the environment. This is possible with space. Mining can happen on asteroids, getting many recourses. Countries can be founded on other planets. Manufacturing can happen in space. This will be great for the environment and
The economy. Space could provide a huge boost for the economy. Firstly the availability of new recourses and a large abundance of existing ones could make thing get much cheaper. Secondly if space gets cheap enough, different things can be manufactured. This can lead to more technological progress than what has been seen in human history.
Basically, I think that space is worth the tiny amount of money that is spent on it. While we might see this as terrible now future generations will be reaping the benefits of space.
I still find it insane that some people deny the existence of climate change. It has been proved multiple times with science and if you need any more evidence you can look at Venus. As such I wondered, why is climate change not the biggest concern of the United States government? I came up with two reasons why.
Oil
According to https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=39413, in 2018 43 U.S. oil producers had a total net income of $28 billion. This is a lot of money for the economy. However, what if we start using renewables for electricity? The money will still flow into the economy and it would be better for the environment.
If you disagree with anything I said in my post, please leave a comment. I want to expose myself to different viewpoints, I am, after all, still a teen. Thanks for reading.
In the united states there are two parties that everybody knows about and talk about, the Democrats and the Republicans. My question is how can there only be two major parties? The United States is a very diverse set of people and each have different beliefs. So how can there be only two main parties?
This leads to the first reason, people don’t vote for third parties because they don’t think that third parties won’t win any elections. If a third party doesn’t get any votes why vote for them when they will fail? This is a flaw in peoples thinking. I believe that you should vote for who you want to vote for. If we don’t third parties are doomed to fail as it is currently a chicken and the egg situation.
The second reason is a bit more obvious, their ideas match up with my beliefs. if you want to learn more about the things that the green party stands for you can go to this link: https://www.gp.org/we_stand.
